Our Story
When you're running a truly organic farm, keeping your seedlings healthy and uncontaminated is your lifeblood. An extraordinary challenge when you're battling natural disaster at every corner. Sometimes it all takes a gust of wind carrying a seed from a neighboring farm to contaminant your entire crop.
Witnessing the devastation broke our founder's heart. But she knew asking for help wasn't in a farmers' nature. So she knew she had to get creative. During good times, she'd go around and ask the farmers she knew for some of their seeds. Of course, they were more than happy to share with her. So she'd plant some and hang onto others for safe keeping. And when disaster struck, she'd deliver them a basket of seeds. Some of hers, some of theirs. Often leaving it on the porch with only a knock. As though a little bee had flown by and left them there.
This concept is what our co-op was founded on. A practice we're continuing on almost 48 years later.
